Half Gallon, Quarter Acre, Pavlova Paradise

Apr 29th, 2008 by Admin

When Finn Mackesy described this garden I asked if I could post some pics and a few words about it. Finn is co-chairperson for Permaculture in New Zealand and has been a great support to The Transition Network Aotearoa. I am grateful for this latest inspiring contribution.

With some knowledge of plants, propagation and growing food (plus time, energy and patience) it is amazing what you can grow in your own backyard. This property grows enough fruit and vegetables to feed a family of five most of the year and even surplus for the neighbourhood. Shane has put eleven years of hard work and applied his extensive knowledge and love of productive landscapes to create this amazing 1/4 acre piece of food paradise in Whakatane.Front yard food forest
